Book Review - Broken Open by Elizabeth Lesser

Recently I have been reading Elizabeth Lesser's book, Broken Open, a beautifully written assemblage of stories dealing with profound change. In all of the stories, no matter how challenging the obstacle, the subject always grows at some level spiritually, whether the change be a death in the family or a job loss.

A former co-worker gave me this book to read after I was laid off from my job a few months ago. I was hesitant to pick up another heavy text to add to my spiritually eclectic mix, but I was intrigued from the very moment of reading this. I would suggest reading it slowly so as to take nibbles of insight. However an easy read, the doses are condensed and deal with topics of relationships, "shaman lovers", death, birth, parenting, travel, psychics, divorce, you name it.

That's all for now, folks. Stay tuned...
